Editable rates — USD per delivered message

Entry-tier Meta fees for India (compiled 8 Sep 2026). Adjust to your contract or Meta's latest card.

Meta does not bill utility messages sent inside an open 24-hour customer-service window, and it applies 5–30% volume discounts on utility and authentication at scale. This estimate counts everything at entry-tier list rates, so treat the total as your ceiling, not your floor.

How to read it

Three categories drive almost the whole bill

Marketing — always billed

Promotions and campaigns are the most expensive category in every country and have no volume discount. Fewer, sharper campaigns cut the bill fastest.

Utility — billed outside the window

Order updates, reminders and receipts cost a fraction of marketing — and are free inside an open 24-hour service window. This estimate counts them at list rate.

Authentication — the OTP bargain

Login and verification codes are billed at the lowest rates (about $0.0011 in India), which is why WhatsApp OTPs beat SMS on both cost and conversion.

FAQ

WhatsApp API pricing questions

Is this WhatsApp pricing calculator official?

No — it is an estimate. The preset rates are Meta's entry-tier per-message fees for marketing, utility and authentication templates, compiled on 8 September 2026 from published rate cards, and every rate is editable on the page. Meta changes its rate card periodically, so confirm current numbers on Meta's official WhatsApp pricing documentation before budgeting.

Which messages does Meta charge for?

Since July 2025 Meta bills per delivered template message, priced by the recipient's country and the template category. Marketing templates are always billed; utility and authentication templates are billed too, but utility messages sent inside an open 24-hour customer-service window are free. Customer-initiated service conversations and free-form replies inside that window are free. This estimate counts every volume at list rate, so it is the upper bound of the Meta fee.

Does the estimate include The Tech Pad or provider fees?

No. The total is Meta's platform fee only. A Business Solution Provider adds its own markup on top. The Tech Pad connects your number through Meta's official Cloud API and passes Meta fees through at cost — you pay only the platform plan.

Is WhatsApp cheaper than SMS for OTPs in India?

Usually yes for volume. India authentication messages are billed at about $0.0011 per message on Meta's entry tier, while transactional SMS typically costs ₹0.12–0.35 per message — and WhatsApp authentication templates also carry higher conversion. The exact saving depends on your SMS contract and WhatsApp volumes.

How do volume discounts work?

Meta applies graduated discounts of 5–30% to utility and authentication messages once you exceed monthly volume thresholds per country. Marketing and service messages are not discounted. This calculator models entry-tier list rates only, so a high-volume sender should treat the result as a ceiling.
