Do I need a The Tech Pad account?
Yes — the chat runs on The Tech Pad platform, and it's created for you automatically: on the Connection screen just enter your email (your WordPress admin email is prefilled) and click "Create my workspace & connect" — your workspace and chat key are provisioned instantly and a magic link opens your inbox. Already have an account? Paste your public key from Web Chat settings. Visitors never need an account.
Do I need an API key?
No. The publishable (public) key is safe to embed in your site — it only lets visitors open a chat.
Can visitors chat on WhatsApp too?
Yes. The green WhatsApp bubble next to the chat button opens a WhatsApp chat and every conversation lands in the same inbox. On the Connection tab you choose the target: your connected Tech Pad number, or any other number via wa.me (no connection needed).
Do I need a connected Tech Pad number for the WhatsApp bubble?
No. Pick "Another WhatsApp number" and type any number — visitors start a regular WhatsApp chat, no Meta verification or API involved. Connect that number to Tech Pad later and switch the setting to bring those chats into your shared inbox.
Can I show it only on certain pages?
Yes. Display rules let you show the button everywhere, only on listed pages, or everywhere except listed pages — plus post types, devices, visitors, time/scroll delay and business hours.
Can I change the icon?
Yes — 8 ready-made icons or your own image/GIF, with colour pickers, shapes and animations.
